About us

We are the Gautam Buddha Vihara Management Trust

Our vision is to rebuild Gautam Buddha Vihara into a magnificent, awe-inspiring temple that stands as a testament to the prominence of Buddhism in Diyun. This temple aims to be more than just a place of worship; it will be a landmark for the town, reflecting the rich Buddhist heritage of Diyun's predominantly Buddhist population.

A Legacy of Faith: Gautam Buddha Vihara, Diyun

Gautam Buddha Vihara, established in 1984, stands as a testament to the unwavering faith and communal spirit of Diyun. For 40 years, this sacred space has served as a beacon of spirituality and a cherished sanctuary for the Buddhist community, embodying the heart of our spiritual heritage.

A Humble Beginning, Enduring Spirit

From its humble beginnings, built solely through the dedicated efforts of our community, the Vihara quickly became a central landmark and a vital spiritual hub in Diyun town. Originally constructed with walls and flooring of sand and stones, and a roof and ceiling primarily of wood, the Vihara naturally succumbed to the wear and tear of time.

Preserving the Past, Building the Future

Managed by the dedicated Gautam Buddha Vihara Management Trust, our mission is driven by a profound vision: to preserve the rich history of our Vihara while building a sustainable future for generations to come. Over the decades, the loving care of devoted individuals from Rajnagar village and Diyun Bazaar ensured the Vihara remained a vital part of our community.

However, as the original structure aged, the deterioration became increasingly pronounced, posing significant safety risks. Recognizing the potential for catastrophic collapse, the difficult decision was made to dismantle the old structure. This necessary step marked the beginning of a transformative journey, a commitment to rebuild and revitalize our beloved Vihara.

Our Core Objectives

Preserving our heritage: Ensuring the rich history and spiritual significance of Gautam Buddha Vihara is preserved for future generations.

Building a sustainable future: Reconstructing and maintaining the Vihara to provide a safe and welcoming sanctuary for all.

Strengthening our community: Fostering a sense of unity and spiritual connection through the teachings of Buddha.

Inspiring spiritual growth: Providing a space for meditation, reflection, and the pursuit of enlightenment.
