Gautam Buddha Vihara, established in 1984, is a beacon of spirituality in the heart of Diyun town. This Vihara owes its existence to the dedication and vision of several prominent leaders: Lt. Avas Karan Chakma (alias Budobize) of Dumpani, Lt. Suramani Karbari of Jyotsnapur, Lt. Birendra Chakma (alias Neidangara) of Jyotipur, Lt. Dolapuna Chakma (alias Hokkanibap) of Rajnagar, and Lt. After settling in Arunachal Pradesh, the first generation initiated the establishment of several temples in the Chakma settlement area of Diyun Circle. Among these, Gautam Buddha Vihara was a notable endeavor, led by visionary leaders and devoted Buddhist followers who sought a temple for all devotees in Diyun. The Buddha Vihara Construction Committee, formed in 1979, included Shri Gogen Basar (President), Shri Hriday Chakma (General Secretary), and Late Chigonya (Cashier) as key office bearers. Their efforts to mobilize public donations led to significant contributions for the Vihara's construction.
Prominent contributors included Late Avas Karan Chakma, Late Sura Muni Karbari, Late Birendra Chakma, Late Mano Ranjan Chakma, Shri Buddhalila Chakma, Late Dholapuna Chakma, Late Lalit Chakma, and Late Briswaketu Chakma. Initially set to be inaugurated by Shri Tsering Tashi, the then Minister of PWD, the Vihara was ultimately inaugurated by Shri Badan Chandra Samon (Singpho), Vice-President of Miao Community Development Block, on 16th February 1984.
